2020 6-Week Program Participants

Kaitlyn Badger, Laikin Studio [graphic designer]

This program was incredible! A little less than a year into business, I was fluctuating between weeks of manic working hours to weeks of burnout and then feeling lost. I wanted to book out my services further in advanced, and take on more work, but also, work less hours and create boundaries. I knew I needed to learn more about actually running a business, to put systems in place that would help me grow. The program has helped me to do just that. While I’m still digesting some of the lessons, I’ve already put systems and practices into place that have made me so much more confident and excited by what I do.

I knew this program would be helpful, but I had no idea how in depth it would be. I loved the format and have so many takeaways that I now use everyday. The system structures have completely changed my business for the better. I have so much more confidence making changes towards growth.

Every business owner should do this program! Seriously, don't hesitate! You will learn so much about efficiency and practical matters. This program will clean up any business structure. (Even if you already thought it was tidy :) ) It makes small business owning fun and satisfying, instead of just a struggle. The sexiest spreadsheets will change your life!

Angelica Mordecai [holistic health practitioner]

Thank you for offering the course to me when it felt like a gamble. It has been a tremendous source of support. I appreciate you---your presence, your mind, your work ethic.

Patricia Heffner, Oh Eleven Studio [designer]

The biz foundations program has been an absolutely wonderful, valuable experience and I'm so grateful for you and the others in the cohort. It's been incredibly helpful to hear from other entrepreneurs (in so many different phases of business) and work through the course material together. This is so corny but I'm going to cherish the hell out of those worksheets.

Brittany Luby, Hey Ma Creative [designer & clothing maker]

The business foundations program was no joke! It really helped me to break down and examine various assumptions about my own business I didn’t realize I had, so I could rebuild it to be more sustainable for my life and goals. Sarah helps you go deep into your own motivations, strengths and fears. The personal is political with her and she doesn’t shy away from real life. She is pragmatic and uses psychology around habit building/system thinking/upstream thinking to help you set up an infrastructure that is accessible and outputs positive momentum. Slow and steady wins the race here. Diligent and consistent actions might not sound as sexy as a windfall but the program is all about building that strong foundation. Her curriculum is evergreen, solid advice and it will change how you perceive every system you come into contact with.

Sarah amplifies the inspiration behind being a business owner by embracing the many challenges we face and using them as opportunities to uncover our hidden potential.

Having started my business without much strategic planning, I found myself three years later in a basically successful and mostly intuitively driven operational rut. The Anchor & Orbit program gave me the chance to step back and reevaluate my choices, while returning to the core motivational factors for starting and running my own business. I gained much needed tools to navigate my business growth, both financially and logistically. Sarah is a fairy godmother with a precise and wise touch. Investing in the 6-month program was exactly what I needed to reframe my goals and move forward with greater clarity and success.

The course materials were presented in a really accessible way—

it was a wonderful mix of your research and the interpretation of that research (written in your own voice). It made the materials feel relatable. The lead-ins to the assignments were helpful as well, *especially* when you provided your own examples as a way to guide me through and learn how to complete the assignment

Sarah helped me to outline my goals for the future of my business and then break them down into actionable steps. She helped me set up systems for growth in my business so I'm prepared to take things to the next level. I feel a lot less scattered and more able to organize my work and production capabilities in my business. I feel so much more secure in my role as a biz lady after taking the A&O course!

Sarah is so easy to talk to and supportive, I'm so grateful for her belief in me and my business and her creation of a community of other small business owners.

I loved being able to chat with other women creatives going through similar struggles and discussing the material together in our biweekly calls. Sarah answered emails quickly and thoughtfully, but also sets up expectations of healthy boundaries between business and personal time (that we can all learn from!!). I highly recommend working with Sarah if you're serious about wanting to grow your creative small business and work with someone who can help direct you to success.

She proved a devoted advocate for my business and held me accountable when I needed an extra push. Her insights, direction, and encouragement were incredibly helpful, and I am still plucking gems from our discussion notes. Her breadth of experience includes working with creatives businesses, which is also why I was excited to work with her.

If you are launching your first business or trying to reach new heights with an existing endeavor, I wholeheartedly recommend working with Sarah.
